Comments:

After the six most fun years of my life at Harding, I spent a year at Mt. Vernon Jr. College in Washington, D.C., then three years at O.U. where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Then I married Johnny Pellow and was hired as a third grade teacher at Western Village Elementary School in Oklahoma City. Unfortunately, the job did not last very long because I immediately got pregnant and at that time you couldn’t appear in the classroom after your third month.

Bang, bang, bang, bang! Here came John, Joe, Jimmy, and Jennifer - four kids in six years. I was a housewife, den mother, cookie salesman, etc. We moved to Edmond where I became the social director and manager of the Edmond Racquet Club, and later the Woodlake Racquet Club. That was followed by seven years as director of the Edmond Historic Community Center. Two failed marriages later, I finally got things right in 1990 when I married Ed Sturm, a widower with three grown children. Now between us we have 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Although I have retired, volunteer work has brought great joy to my life and many friendships. We are very involved at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, where I served on the Vestry and have been secretary and president of the ECW. I was secretary of the Edmond Historical Society Board of Directors and the Oak Tree Women’s Golf Association. An active alumna of my college sorority, I have been president of the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Association and president of the Theta Mom’s Club. Serving two terms as president of the Thursday Book Club, I am an avid reader, and also involved with the Oak Tree Book Worms. I have been scholarship chairman of the Samuel King Chapter of D.A.R. and a board member of Leadership Edmond. Serving on several committees with the Edmond Chamber of Commerce, I was honored as the chamber’s Ambassador of the Year in 1993. Much of my volunteer time has been given up to now enjoy Bridge, Mah Jongg, and Golf in addition to traveling with Ed, and I have become addicted to sudoku puzzles!
