Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery

Nancy Lee Wheat/English/Baysinger, 81, of Oklahoma City, passed away on Wednesday, October 4th 2023. She was born on February 24, 1942 in McAlester, Oklahoma.

Nancy graduated from Harding High School and received her Bachelors degree from Oklahoma City University and her Masters degree from University of Central Oklahoma.

Nancy's lifelong devotion to music illuminated the lives of countless students as a dedicated private instructor of both piano and voice. Her passion for sharing the joys of music made a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to learn from her.

A faithful member of the St. Lukes Methodist and Village Methodist church choirs, Nancy's talent extended beyond teaching. She was an exceptional accompanist, with a unique ability to attune to each singer's distinct style. Her keen sensitivity to the subtle changes in tempo and emotion elevated every performance she was a part of, making them truly memorable.

Beyond her musical gifts, Nancy had a creative soul. She found joy in painting, cross-stitching, crocheting, and sewing. Her leisure moments were often spent at the piano or immersed in the melodic voices of José Carreras, Plàcido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchild and had an enduring passion for performing, notably with groups such as the Master Chorale in Oklahoma City.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Emmit Wheat, her mother, Helen Wolf Wheat, and her husbands Paul English and Hugh Baysinger.

The legacy of her love and music continues through her family, her children, Melody and Richard English, her daughter-in-law, Deini English, her three beloved grandchildren, Grayson and his wife Gianne, Miles, and Ashlyn English. And her great-grandchild Carter English. Nancy's radiant spirit will be missed, yet her influence will echo through the melodies and memories she leaves behind.
