Spent time in '60s in Calif. on staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. (LONG time ago!)
Grad school OCU: Early Childhood Ed.'68/69.
Montessori Internship @ Casady 1969. (Worked with Frank Brainard! Great time. Got really close.)
Founded Pathways Child Development Corp. w/my sister Patsy 1970; schools in Dungee/Spencer east of OKC, NE OKC & inner city NW OKC, till 1992.
Married chef Richard Welte 1974; he was at Chez Vernon (John Vernon's place) then. I, too, worked in restaurant business few years in '70s. (e.g. 1st cook for VZD Restaurant here, w/training from our own Tommy Garrison in Dallas!)
Lived in Denver '77-'81. 1st 2 children born there. Back to OKC & Pathways.
Began Toddler Program @ Pathways in '81; director till '90. Holly born during this time, w/Down Syndrome.
Founded non-profit parent support organiz. for families of children w/disabilities in 1992. Volunt. work w/disabilities rest of '90s.
Child Welfare social worker: 1998-04 (Rough job!)
Husband died of cancer 2000.
Became daughter's disability provider contracted by State in '04. (Hooray! No more 'going to the office'!!)
Politics: Liberal/Democrat.
Religion: Evangelical Christian - St.Stephens Presbyterian OKC.
Volunteer: Still do disability work. Give talks re: being parent of 3 kids w/disabilities. (1st 2 have ADHD/learning disabilities. School was a nightmare! But Anna's now an artist w/a degree from Okla.Christian Univ.; Jason's a manager at BestBuy & a great 'people person'. AND, Holly works at Pizza Hut! Success is possible!)
Personal: I'm not as serious & sober (shy) as I was in Jr/Sr highschool. I laugh a LOT more these days. . .

Seems my memories usually have to be sparked by something today. . .
But, I do remember how I enjoyed being an Aide to Ms. Jacobs, along with Barbara Kimmell. Also remember struggling to type faster & more accurately to try to keep up with Barbara's amazing stats in Typing Class! Couldn't even come close!
Remember getting in trouble for talking & laughing all thru Study Hall my Jr. year & getting my very first BAD GRADE! for that. J.T. Sexton was my partner in crime. Actually, I thought that was pretty good for a shy wallflower such as myself. I think I had a little crush on J.T.
I remember the time Jacquie Hopkins somehow got hurt in Mrs. Cooley's room, I think while we were horsing around supposedly practicing for some production we were in. She cut her eyebrow badly, blood EVERYwhere, etc. We jumped in her car (w/permission from the traumatized Mrs.C.) & raced to St.Anthony's where my father met us and sewed up the cut. I, fascinated by the procedure, promptly fainted.
Another time, we were hurrying to get into Carnations for lunch on our big 30 minute lunch hour. We all hopped out & Jacquie backed into a parking place. Unfortunately, she didn't wait for me to get the door shut. It caught my knee between her door & the car next to her. Smashed my knee (OH! THAT's why it hurts so often now. . .) & broke her car door. Once again, down to my father's office. Boy, were we in trouble. We didn't have permission to go out to eat. . .
