Comments:
After graduation from Harding I attended the University of Oklahoma where I majored in Elementary Education. I was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. I was philanthropic chairman. While I was at OU I met and married Bryce Wolfe. His sister was a classmate of ours at Harding, Mary Wolfe. In 1969 I got my Real Estate license and actively sold property for 22 years.
In 1974 I married John Barger, He was an IRS agent at the time. John had a son Johnny who was 10 years old and I had a son 10 years old when we married. Our daughter Jennifer was born in 1975. In 1979 our son Johnny passed away.
In 1989 I started working for the Hertz Corporation in Emergency Road Service. I worked for Hertz for 16 years before retiring in 2005. During my time at Hertz I handled problems with the Hertz cars, robberies, fatalities, stolen cars,etc. I have heard every possible story about what happened to the cars. In 2005 I retired from Hertz because of health problems. I have had 2 open heart surgeries in the past 4 years.
Thru out the years Marymargaret Jordan and I have remained very close friends(almost like sisters). She is godmother to my children and although they are grown she still spoils them. Her son Jim is my godson. I have remained close to Jean Starkey Fleming, Katherine Hahn Niggemeyer,Shari Noah Norman,Kathleen Miller Kaufman, and Liz Lawley Little. I still miss 2 of our classmates from kindergarten and Harding. Ellen Roach Hodges and Beverly Bollander Mulder.
In 1980 I became interested in learning how to make custom jewelry, so I started taking all the jewelry classes I could find at the surrounding colleges. At that time Marymargaret and I formed a company called M&K Specialities. We made custom jewelry for friends and familiy.
During my last years at Hertz Marymargaret's son ran a limo company. I worked part time as a driver. Margaret and I deliverd bodies,cremains,drove hearses and limo. Now I work part time for a large Senior Living Community. Its a fun job and I can bring my therapy Maltese dog to work.
The delights of my life are my son and daughter. My son lives in Houston and has 3 children,ages 24,22,12. My daughter lives in Edmond with her husband and 2 boys, ages 3 & 6. My grandchildren are wonderful and I have so much fun with them.
My life has been blessed and I wouldnt change anything.
Marymargaret & I have the same motto for living as follows:
Life shouldn't be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body,but rather to skid in sideways, body thouroughly used up, totally worn out , screaming, "WOO HOO WHAT A RIDE!"
