After graduating from OSU in 1963, I lived and worked in Colorado, Chicago and Pennsylvania where I got married in my mid-twenties. We had two daughters, one of whom was adopted. As sometimes happens in life, something you thought would never happen to you does happen. We went through a divorce, and since it didn’t kill me, it made me stronger. Several years later I married my wonderful husband, Russ McBroom, and have been very blessed for our 28 years together. We have a wonderful blended family which you can see by the big numbers of progeny above.
I retired early from my job as a personnel manager in my mid-40s which was the first year of our “empty nest”. With our blended five kids who were either in college, married or working, I was able to travel some with Russ on business trips, do volunteer work, and have a hobby for the first time in my life. When I was 50, I took up oil painting (having never touched a paint brush). I continue to paint and do volunteer work. Russ finally retired (for the third time) and we still enjoy travelling. We’ve always been active in our church and still are.
I have been so blessed in life. My faith, since high school days, has always been my mainstay. I’ve enjoyed good health, good friends, and a family that I love. Who could ask for more?
